Summer Reads

I’m not sure about you, but I always read more contemporary romance in the summer. I don’t know if it’s because so many rom coms are set on the beach or if it’s because I just need a palette cleanser after reading so many historical romance novels.
What are you reading this summer? You can leave a comment directly on this post (just open in your web browser) to share your recommendations with the rest of us.
💃 Romance Recommendations
![]() | A Love Like the SunInternet famous Isaac returns to his hometown for the summer and decides to help his childhood best friend’s business succeed…by pretending to date her. This is also the Threads Book Club pick for July! |
![]() | That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a DemonAll Cinnamon wanted was to improve her spice farm. But after she saves the life of demon Fallon, she gets dragged along on an adventure to kill an evil witch. A fun fantasy! |
![]() | Funny StoryA lot of you mentioned reading Emily Henry, so I decided to read her work for the first time. Funny Story is hilarious! After Daphne’s fiancé leaves her for his childhood best friend Petra, she has to move in with Petra’s ex, Miles. They go from being strangers to roommates to something more. |
![]() | The UnhoneymoonersChristina Lauren has a goldmine of summertime favorites, but I especially love The Unhoneymooners. After the wedding party gets food poisoning, Olive has to take her sister’s place on her free honeymoon. Unfortunately, she has to take best man Ethan so they can convincingly pretend to be newlyweds. |
![]() | A Week to be WickedIf you haven’t tried Tessa Dare yet, the Spindle Cove series is a good place to start. Minerva would much prefer to be reading a book or studying fossils. To save her sister from marrying a rogue (and attend a geology convention) she hires her least favorite British lord to pretend to elope to Scotland with her. |
![]() | In a JamI love a good rom com, and this one is super cute. Shay inherits her grandmother’s tulip farm with one catch: she has to be married within a year. Luckily, Noah’s there to help. The real star of the show is six-year-old Gennie. |
![]() | Hook, Line, and SinkerDid you enjoy watching Penelope try to land Lord Debling in Bridgerton? Me too! Hannah’s crushing hard on her colleague and ladies man Fox is the perfect person to help jump start her love life. But as Hannah and Fox spend more time together, Fox starts to realize that he’s helping her land the wrong man. |
![]() | Just for the SummerJustin’s cursed. Every woman he dates falls in love with their soul mate right after they break up. When Emma slides into his DMs with a proposal to date to cancel out the curse, he’s all in. It’s a perfect summer fling. |

💌 Romancelandia News
A new Alabama bill has been filed to arrest librarians. But in good news, Vermont has made it a lot harder to ban books.
Project 2025 is real bad news. It would have major repercussions for LGBTQ+ rights, education, reproductive rights, immigration, literature, and basically everything good in this country.
Bridgerton’s problem with racism, homophobia, and body-shaming. “The source of the problems is fans who resent Julia Quinn for dealing with Shondaland and Netflix to begin with. They wanted the world of Bridgerton to remain white and heterosexual – to the detriment of expanding viewership among people of colour and queer audiences,” Amanda-Rae Prescott says.
